All of my favorites – Meals and meal prep, supplements, trackers, etc.
I’m calling this page the Kitchen because that’s typically where we’ll find everything here . I’m not an affiliate of any of these brands, foods or companies, they’ve just worked for me and I really like them.
HEB has revolutionized meal prep – to a very functional level.
My daughter called me one evening and said she found some ready-made meals at HEB, MealSimple, you just pop ’em in the oven, or some, the microwave and eat.
I got a few for my husband and I to try, they were sooo delicious – it blew our minds and now, except for the very, very rare occasion, these are our everyday meals.
Easy, home cooked, real food – no preservatives, for the raw, bake in the oven meals. The already cooked microwaveable meals, do have some preservatives and pretty high sodium so I veer away from them, but the couple of them that I tried tasted really good.
The portions may look small, but they’re actually very filling, sooo filling that I can’t finish some of them.
On that note – remember your stomach is designed to be the size of your fist, if you’ve been eating more than that, you’ve probably stretched it out and requires more to “fill it up”. But if you start eating what it would take to fill the size of your fist, your stomach will shrink back to it’s intended size.
Now on to the beef – you may have heard about the Argentinian beef situation. In Texas, that’s a pretty hard pill to swallow, but thankfully, as of right now, HEB is not jumping on the Argentinian beef-bandwagon, they’re sticking with Texas Beef!!
I was looking for a protein boost – something easy to grab and drink, either on the go or with one of my HEB Meal Simples.
I happened upon these at Target one day, I looked through all of the protein drinks – literally everything they had and decided on these because they have 30 grams of protein, yes, but also because they only have 1 gram of sugar, NO ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS and 5 grams of prebiotics fiber.
These are very yummy, very easy to drink – not the usual protein-drink texture or after taste.
Drinking them alone, I love the Salted Caramel and Chocolate. The Salted Caramel has a slight coffee-ish after taste, but it’s delicious.
With a meal, I prefer the Vanilla.
I’ve also started adding 2.5 tablespoons of Chia Seeds for an added 5 grams of protein and Omega 3s. If you do this, take an initial drink out of the bottle, add the seeds, shaking after each tablespoon. I let it sit while my MealSimple meal is warming up (20-25 mins), then you’ll have to take a knife or long teaspoon and scrape the seeds off the bottom of the bottle and shake it again.
I know – this sounds like a bit of a to do, but once you get in a routine, it’s worth it for an added 9 grams of protein, and it’s super filling with a meal.
One Sol is my favorite brand of supplements marketed for women, but men can take them too. They are clean supplements, plant based and they work!! I use the creatine, the BCAAs, the PreWorkout and the Greens. On their website, they also have some very interesting recipes.
